Smile Straightening with No Braces

Porcelain laminate veneers have been discussed elsewhere on our website as a popular treatment for repairing or closing up teeth gaps, fixing chipped teeth and creating the perfect smile line (the secret to having an attractive, alluring, almost sexy smile).

In the hands of an experienced veneer dentist, ceramic veneers made of high grade feldspathic porcelain can also be used in a treatment plan that can aesthetically straighten teeth that have rotations, are misaligned, uneven sizing and uneven spacing between teeth.

This technique sensitive procedure is popularly called Instant Orthodontics and more recently, Instant Braces. The "correct" application of veneer products can create a smile that has the appearance of perfect orthodontic balance.

Adults with busy life styles, careers or people who just don't want to undergo traditional orthodontics that requires long term treatment with bulky metal braces usually select this procedure for instant results. With multiple unit veneers... treatment is usually completed within several days.

Our patient, an attractive 36 year old paralegal, had several cosmetic issues with her teeth that she wanted to overcome without years and years of dental appointments, adjustments and follow up treatments. She stated her concern : "I want my smile back".

The condition of the patient's tooth enamel on some structures had also suffered deterioration. Feldspathic porcelain possesses properties that enable a skilled veneer dentist to recreate a cosmetic result that looks and feels like new teeth enamel with color and shading qualities that would even fool Mother Nature herself. Veneers are often used as a treatment that functions as enamel replacement or repair.

Technical Studies and Analysis

At Southern Dental, we use articulators, impression models, diagnostic wax up modeling and porcelain veneer temporaries provided the necessary technical data needed to fabricate specialized veneers for each tooth.

 One by one, as the temporary veneers are created, the doctor and patient are able to create a final result that assured healthy dental function (yes, veneers are important for maintaining correct occlusal relationships) and produces a cosmetic dazzle the patient will enjoy for years to come.

You can review how the restoration design is chosen to optimize esthetics in the case of the featured patient. The existing open margin, mismatched porcelain crowns are replaced, the adjacent teeth of the smile line are prepared with minimal reduction on the front surfaces. Enamel bonding circumferentially served to increase retention and reduce microleakage. (photos, case 2).

The veneers do not have the bulky feel that many veneer patients complain about. The intensive use of waxup modeling, articulation studies and readjustments of the temporary veneers assured the perfection our patient demanded.
